This class is NOT FREE. Payment due upon arrival. This is an OFF SITE add on class. You must be registered for The Gathering Of Artisans weekend to attend. Space is very limited. Kit Fee: $50. Participants are to bring their own supplies and materials. Class-specific supplies provided. Thursday, 10:00 am -3:30 pm OFFSITE in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. Description: a 5 hour intensive workshop with master mixed media painter, Carol Bomer, held in-studio in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. The workshop is for intermediate to advanced-level artists and will explore various topics in mixed media techniques. Please join Carol in the exploration of mixed media and cold wax medium used with oil paint. We will prepare a mixed media (text and image) surface on canvas or birch panels. Then seal it well using Acrylic spray. Then we will paint them using oil glazes and oil paint or cold wax medium, which allows you to add translucence to your painting. It is similar to encaustic without the “caustic” fumes and heat.

On Thursday, Sept 29, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. Michael will give a one day intense oil painting workshop. Limit of 12 people. FEE: $140 This would involve a short painting demonstration, followed by Michael working with artists painting from a still life set-up, or working from their own photos (any subjects would be fine). This workshop will be at the same location as the Fri/Sat workshop. Lunch will be included This is an add on ticket for The Gathering Of Artisans weekend. You must be attending Gathering to participate in this extra workshop.
